We spoke to Steph McKeon, who you may also know as Anna from the theatre production of Frozen, to get the lowdown on how she found Symprove, why she’s so passionate about gut health, and the three words she uses to describe the good bugs.
How did you hear about Symprove and how long have you been taking it?
I heard about Symprove through a fellow Irish lass, fitness guru and all-round fabulous Queen, Maeve Madden. #influenced! I’ve been taking Symprove for about a year now and I’ve never looked back!
What motivated you to get involved with Symprove?
I’ve always taken my gut health very seriously. I decided to go for gold and give Symprove a try because I was preparing for the biggest role of my career.
What does your morning routine look like?
I wake up and go straight to the fridge for my shot of Symprove - or sometimes I send my lovely husband down to the kitchen and he brings it to me in bed (lucky woman!). I knock back my morning shot of the good stuff, then wait 10 mins before having a green drink, followed by some gut-friendly porridge (with plenty of seeds and berries) or sometimes eggs with toast. Then I’m usually rushing off to the theatre for a full-on day!
Where did your interest in gut health start?
In school, biology was my favourite subject! I was fascinated by food science and how the body works. I pursued a career in The Arts but never lost my love for all things health and nutrition and if anything, committing to a life as a performer meant my health became even more valuable to me. I’ve read countless books based on the theory that ‘food is medicine’ and consequently learned first-hand how adopting that principle in life really can lead to optimized health. In my experience, as a self-professed health nerd, it does always seem that all roads really do lead back to the gut! Gut health is everything, it is our second brain, and, in my case, my gut literally cries out to me when something is off in my body or in need of extra attention. I’ve found that Symprove is the ultimate gift I choose to give to my gut! Lucky gut!
Top tips for looking after physical health?
Sleep is everything to me. And water. Sleep, water and everything in moderation!
And your mental health?
Meditation and breathing exercises are what really keep my mental health in check. Even 5 or 10 minutes a day can make such a difference. And exercise is another obvious one. Admittedly, I do find it difficult to keep a regular workout routine while I’m performing in a show 8 times a week (which can be incredibly strenuous work), but even taking a walk in nature or some simple yoga can be incredibly beneficial to me.
Why should people care about Symprove?
If you truly care about health, you should care about and consider Symprove. As my grandmother always said, ‘your health is your wealth.’ There is simply nothing more valuable. And investing in Symprove is investing in yourself.
